Contestant #1 - Katie from Martinsburg says.. "We recently purchased our first house, but it didn't include a dream backyard...it didn't include a backyard at all! We would love to cover up the dead grass with a paver patio! We can't use our back door, and don't own a girll because we don't have a place to put it! We would love to enjoy the beautiful West Virginia weather on a new patio! Please help this newlywed couple get the backyard of their dreams!"

Contestant #2 - Kristy from Inwood says... "To us, to deserve something means that we've worked hard to earn it. Despite life's challenges, we have maintained a strong work ethic, and a stronger faith and love for family. My husband and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary in August. Early on, we visualized our "dream home" and picked out our "dream neighborhood." We diligently saved and we were finally able to this year build our home. For the backyard, we'd love to match the beauty of the front. Our home is being showcased later this summer by our builder for WV Home of the Year. It would be amazing to be able to showcase a new patio too! We truly appreciate how much outdoor living can enhance a home and the many memories that can be made outside. To win this contest would be such a true blessing to our family. Thank you for your kind consideration."

Contestant #3 - Michelle from Stephens City says... "My Sad Yard: A Sonnet by a special ed teacher who needs a retreat. Summer is coming and I love to sit outside in nature with my family. I love to read and relax a small bit. Relaxing is tough in my yard, you see. There is little grass and there is no deck; No place for me to get my brown suntan. There's nothing out there for my dog to wreck, but nothing for her owners either, man! My garden veggies are growing in pots. The ground is too tough and made of hard rock for me to till to make a garden plot. It would be easy for people to mock. Summer's the time that a teacher can chill - I need a nice yard, pick me if you will."
